If you want your guests to gasp when they walk in, a Celestine Brooklyn wedding will do it. This is a Mediterranean restaurant sitting right on the East River in DUMBO, with the

Manhattan Bridge on one side and the skyline on the other.

We are a wedding DJ company and a preferred vendor at Celestine. Our DJs have worked here for years, including 8 weddings so far in 2026 alone. So this guide is not a brochure. It is what we have actually seen happen in this room, plus the tips we give couples before they book.

The short version: amazing views, amazing food, a warm team, and one thing about the dance party you should know up front. We will get to that.

What makes a Celestine Brooklyn wedding special?

Three things: the views, the food, and the size. Celestine is a real working restaurant, not a banquet hall, so your wedding feels like the best dinner party your guests have ever been to.

It is also right on the water. Walk outside and you could throw a rock into the East River. Among waterfront wedding venues in Brooklyn, very few put you this close to the bridge and the skyline at the same time.

What are the views like at Celestine?

Some of the best you will find anywhere in New York City. You get the Manhattan Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the downtown skyline, all from one room.

What is the Celestine Brooklyn wedding ceremony backdrop?

The Manhattan Bridge. Your guests are looking at you, and the bridge is right behind you.

They are seated across the East River from Manhattan. So when they turn their heads, they see the whole skyline. It is a lot to take in, in the best way.

Ceremonies usually happen on the terrace, which opens off the dining room through retractable glass doors. The terrace is seasonal, roughly mid May through late October.

What do guests see during dinner?

Both views, depending on which way they turn. Look out one window and there is the Manhattan Bridge. Turn to the other and there is the New York skyline.

You two can sit in front of the open wall with the bridge and the skyline behind you. Every photo of your table looks like a postcard.

When is the best time for photos?

Golden hour, right before sunset. The light comes across the river and everything glows.

Step outside with your photographer for ten or fifteen minutes. You are steps from the riverbank and Brooklyn Bridge Park, so you do not have to go far.

Tip: Look up the sunset time for your date before you lock your timeline. Build dinner around it so you are not stuck mid course when the sky turns pink.

What food is served at a Celestine wedding?

Mediterranean food, and it is to die for. Think breads, dips, and grilled meats, passed around the table family style.

The menu pulls from the Mediterranean coast, North Africa, and the Middle East. Per the venue, highlights include mezze like hummus and a pistachio feta spread, whole grilled fish, and grilled steak.

Here is what we see at almost every wedding. Guests who know this kind of cuisine are impressed. Guests who have never had it get excited to branch out, and then go back for more.

Menu tips from couples who have done it

  • Go to the tasting hungry. Couples tell us it is one of the best parts of planning.

  • Eat there as regular diners first. It is an easy way to test the menu and the service before you sign.

  • Share dietary needs early. Reviews on The Knot mention the team being careful with allergies and restrictions.

  • Do not sleep on the vegetables. One couple said their dinner ended up almost fully vegetarian by accident, and nobody noticed.

  • Ask about stations. Some couples skip the seated dinner and do food stations instead, which keeps people moving.

If Mediterranean wedding catering in NYC is high on your list, this is one of the strongest options we know.

What is the Celestine wedding capacity and layout?

Celestine is one dining room plus a terrace over the river. That is the whole venue, and you get all of it for a private event.

Per the venue's listings, private events hold up to about 75 guests from November through April. From May through October, with the terrace, it is up to 80 seated or 100 standing.

That puts it firmly in the intimate wedding venues NYC category. If your list is 150 people, this is not your place. If it is 60 people you really love, it is perfect.

What does the space feel like?

Bright, warm, and a little bit vacation. Pale wood, teal tile, a copper bar, and plants everywhere. The floor to ceiling windows do most of the decorating for you.

You do not need much decor here. Votive candles and small bud vases come with your event, and the team can print menus for you.

How does a wedding night flow at Celestine?

Everything happens within a few steps, so nobody gets lost and nobody waits around. A typical evening goes like this:

  1. Ceremony on the terrace. Bridge behind you, skyline to the side.

  2. Cocktail hour. Guests drift between the terrace and the bar while the staff resets.

  3. Family style dinner. Long, relaxed, lots of passing plates and talking.

  4. Speeches. Easy to do between courses since everyone is already seated together.

  5. Dancing. Part of the dining room opens up into a dance floor.

  6. Send off. Evening events can run until midnight.

Events start at four hours and you can add time by the hour. Daytime weddings usually wrap by 4pm.

How does the venue staff operate?

Like a great restaurant team, because that is what they are. They are calm, fast, and they keep the night moving without making it feel managed.

Couples in reviews say the same thing over and over: the events team is responsive, and they did not have to think about anything on the day. We see that from the vendor side too. They are easy to work with.

Can you have a dance party at a Celestine wedding?

Yes, a fun one. But not a really loud one, and you should know that before you book.

Celestine has volume restrictions. The DJ can only turn the music up to about a medium level, sometimes a little below. Past that point, the venue controls the level, not the DJ.

We would rather tell you now than have you find out on your wedding night.

Is Celestine the right fit for your kind of party?

If you want this

Celestine is

A long dinner with music in the background, then a fun dance floor

A great fit

A daytime or brunch wedding with no dancing

A great fit

A relaxed party where guests can still talk

A great fit

A packed, club level dance floor until late

Probably not the one

What does a DJ do at a venue like this?

The job here is about reading the room, not turning it up. A good DJ keeps people dancing at a moderate level by picking the right music at the right moment.

That is where our approach fits. Customized music. Minimal announcements. You tell us what you love, whether that is pop, R&B, Latin, house, classic rock, or something else entirely, and we build the night around your taste.

We do not pick the music based on the venue. We pick it based on you two. You can see how that works on our services page.

What about daytime weddings without dancing?

Celestine hosts a lot of them, and they are lovely. The venue often suggests us to couples who just want someone to run a playlist and handle the speeches.

So if you are planning a ceremony, a long lunch, and a few toasts, you can still have a pro take care of the music from start to finish.

How much does a Celestine NYC wedding cost?

Celestine prices per person, with no separate room or site fee. That per person number is built to cover cocktail hour, dinner, and an open bar.

Zola currently lists Celestine as starting at $16,000. Your real total depends on guest count, day of the week, and season, so ask for a quote for your date.

How much is a wedding DJ for Celestine?

Professional wedding DJ pricing in New York City is $2,000 to $4,000. With us, that covers your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. It is not extra.

Tip: When you compare venues, add tax, gratuity, and the admin fee to every quote. A restaurant venue with no site fee often comes out ahead of a raw space where you rent everything.

What are the best Celestine DUMBO wedding planning tips?

Keep it simple and let the venue do the heavy lifting. These are the things we tell couples most often.

  1. Decide how much dancing matters first. If a loud, late party is your top priority, be honest about that before you sign. If dinner and views come first, book it.

  2. Plan around sunset. Golden hour is the whole point of this location. Put it in the timeline on purpose.

  3. Have a weather plan for the ceremony. The terrace is outdoors. The good news is the team handles a pivot indoors well, and you keep the view through the glass.

  4. Mind the season. The terrace runs roughly mid May through late October. Outside those months you are indoors, with a slightly lower guest count.

  5. Keep the guest list honest. This room is best when it feels full but not packed. Do not try to squeeze in twenty extra people.

  6. Tell guests how to get there. DUMBO streets are cobblestone and parking is tight. The F train at York Street is a short walk, and rideshares are easy.

  7. Expect a few onlookers outside. You are next to a public park. Most couples find it charming, and it does not affect the party inside.

  8. Know it is still a restaurant. Restrooms are on the small side. It is rarely a problem at this guest count, just good to know.

  9. Go light on decor. The room and the windows are the look. Spend that money on flowers for the table or on your photographer.

  10. Book early for peak Saturdays. For May, June, September, and October, start about a year out. That goes for your DJ too.
