What a Brooklyn Winery Wedding is Really Like

Brooklyn Winery has been one of the more consistently great wedding venues in the city for over a decade. The old location on North 8th Street had a loyal following. The new space, a few blocks away at the edge of Williamsburg and Greenpoint, is bigger, brighter, and even better suited for weddings.
We have worked a lot of events here. Here is what couples planning a wedding at this venue actually want to know.
The Space Itself
What does Brooklyn Winery look like?
The new location does not look like most wedding venues. Fifteen-foot ceilings. Skylights that flood the room with natural light during the day and feel luminous at night. A living plant wall that serves as the ceremony backdrop. Custom furniture. Wine barrels visible through the windows of the adjacent production space.
It is modern and industrial, but it is warm. The greenery softens everything. Couples who want something that photographs beautifully without feeling overdone tend to love it here.
How are the rooms laid out?
There are two main event spaces.
The front room is the larger of the two. This is where the ceremony, dinner, and dancing typically take place. It is the centerpiece of the night.
The back room is still a generous space. For most weddings it is used for cocktail hour, giving guests a separate area to move around while the front room gets flipped for dinner.
What happens if you have a larger guest count?
The venue accommodates up to 175 guests. Once you pass a certain threshold, the front room alone cannot comfortably hold both dinner and a dance floor. In that case the venue splits the programming across both rooms: ceremony and dinner in the front, cocktail hour and dancing in the back.
It is a smart solution and it works well. The back room has the energy for a dance floor. Guests do not feel like they are in a secondary space.

The Winery Experience
Is it actually a working winery?
Yes, and that is part of what makes it special. Right next to the main event space is a full barrel room and production facility where Brooklyn Winery actually makes its wine. During setup hours, while vendors are getting everything into place, the winery sometimes runs guided winemaking classes in that space, walking guests through the production process.
It gives the venue a texture that a converted loft or hotel ballroom just does not have. You are inside an operational winery. That is the backdrop for the whole night.
What about the food?
Brooklyn Winery is also a restaurant, and the food reflects that. Executive Chef Shaun Lafountain runs the culinary program with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients and family style service. The menus are genuinely good, which matters more than couples sometimes realize when they are in the planning stage.
Brooklyn Winery treats the food as part of the experience. Couples who have done their tasting consistently say it was one of the highlights of the planning process. The wine is made on site. Everything is included in the package.
What the Planning Process Looks Like
Do we need a wedding planner if we book Brooklyn Winery?
A lot of couples who get married here skip the outside planner entirely, and it works out. The on site coordination team is unusually hands on. They are not just present on the day of.
They are involved from the beginning, helping you think through the timeline, coordinating with your vendors, and walking you through every detail.
On the day itself they are present for the ceremony and stay through the end of the night. We work with the coordinator Chaya regularly, and the whole team there is exceptional.
That said, if you have a very specific vision that requires a lot of outside vendor coordination, a planner can still be a worthwhile investment. But for most couples, the venue team covers more than enough ground.

What is included in a Brooklyn Winery wedding package?
The full service packages at Brooklyn Winery include exclusive use of the event spaces, a dedicated event manager, access to a private wedding suite, a couples food and wine tasting, all furniture and custom furnishings, china, stemware, flatware, votive candlelight, and custom printed menus. Food and wine are built into the package. It is genuinely all in.

Logistics Worth Knowing
Where do guests come from and how do they get there?
Williamsburg is easy to reach from most of Brooklyn and Manhattan. The L train runs directly through the neighborhood. Couples coming from the Upper East or Upper West Side might budget a little extra travel time, but for guests in Brooklyn, the East Village, or lower Manhattan it is a short trip.
Rideshare drop off is straightforward, and there is street parking in the area for guests driving in.
Is there a private space for the couple to use?
Yes. The venue includes a private wedding suite with an en suite bathroom. It is a real room, not a hallway with a mirror. Having a place to decompress between ceremony and reception, or just to take a breath during the night, makes a noticeable difference.
What time of year works well for a Brooklyn Winery wedding?
The skylights mean the venue looks different depending on the season. Spring and fall bring softer, more golden light. Summer weddings have bright afternoons that transition well into evening. Winter weddings feel cozy and candlelit.
The venue runs year round, and the interior design holds up in every season. There is no bad time to get married here.
The Music Side of Things
We are NT Wedding DJs, an NYC-based team that works at Brooklyn Winery regularly. A lot of couples planning a wedding here tell us the same thing: they want the music to feel like them, not like a generic wedding playlist. That is exactly what we do. Customized music. Minimal announcements.
The front room has a real dance floor when the room is set up for it, and the back room, when used for dancing in a split setup, works the same way. We have done both configurations here many times.
DJ pricing for a Brooklyn wedding typically runs $2,000 to $4,000 depending on the DJ and the length of the event.

The original North 8th Street location had a loyal following for good reason. The new space is larger and more polished while keeping the industrial warmth that made the original special. For a professional wedding DJ in NYC, budget $2,000 to $4,000. That covers ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Travel fees generally do not apply for Brooklyn venues.
