What is an Associate Tier Wedding DJ?
Here is the deal on our Associate Tier. These DJs have plenty of experience at clubs and bars, but they don’t have much experience doing weddings yet.

They are great at mixing and know how to throw a party. Especially if you love that high-energy nightlife vibe. But because they don't know the ins and outs of weddings, you need to be the boss of the playlist. If you want classic rock anthems or Taylor Swift singalongs, you have to put those specific songs on the list for them, or they might not play them.

The good news? You still get a great sound system and the same number of hours as our full-priced team. You are basically swapping the DJ’s wedding experience for a bargain price. Contact us today to schedule a call with one of our associate DJs!

Are There Any Extra Fees?
Are There Any Extra Costs?
We hate hidden fees, so here is the only fine print you need to know. These standard logistics apply to all our DJs, including the Associate Tier:

-
Travel: If your venue is outside the NYC area, we add a travel stipend to cover the DJ’s gas and time. You can calculate the travel fee using our travel map.

-
Mega-Weddings (200+ Guests): If you are having a massive crowd, we need to bring extra speakers to fill the room. There is an equipment fee (that starts at $250) for this to guarantee the sound doesn't fall flat.
-
Overtime: You get 7 hours or less for $2,000. Each additional hour is $500.

The Honest Trade-Off: Why This Package is Only $2,000
Look, in NYC, you usually get what you pay for. So, how are we offering this rate? It’s simple: You are trading experience for savings.

Our main-tier DJs charge $2,950 (as of January 1, 2026), because they have done dozens, or hundreds, of weddings. They know exactly when to cut the cake, how to calm down a stressed mother-of-the-bride, and how to read a room that ranges from age 8 to 80.

Our Associate DJs are talented, hungry pros who kill it at clubs and bars, but they are still building their "wedding legs." By booking them, you save $950 instantly. In exchange, you accept that they might need a little more guidance from you on the timeline and music. If you are cool with that, you just scored the best deal in the tri-state area.

Who Should Book This Tier (And Who Should Stick to the Pros)
You Should Book the Associate Tier If:

-
The Budget is Priority #1: You want a professional company behind the scenes, but you simply cannot justify spending nearly $3,000 on music.
-
You Are A Music Control Freak: You don't want a DJ to "read the crowd"—you want them to play your list. You are happy to hand over a Spotify playlist and say, "Stick to this."
-
You Are Laid Back: You understand these DJs are gaining experience. If a transition isn't perfect or a song drops at a weird time, you’ll just laugh it off and keep partying.
-
The Dance Floor Isn't Everything: Maybe you are having a daytime wedding, a restaurant reception, or a crowd that prefers chatting and drinking over raging on the dance floor. You just need good tunes and a cool vibe.
You Should Stick to Our Main Pro Team If:

-
You Have a "Melting Pot" Guest List: You need a DJ who can seamlessly weave together oldies for Grandma, Motown for Mom, and hip hop for your friends to keep everyone happy. Doing this well takes practice.
-
You Expect Perfection: If a dead-air silence or a rough song transition will ruin your night or stress you out, you need a veteran pro.
-
You Want a "Rager" Dance Party: If your main goal is a packed dance floor for 4 hours straight, you need a DJ with the deep experience to manipulate energy and work a crowd.
-
You Love Non-Club Genres: If you need a DJ who instinctively knows the best country hits, classic rock deep cuts, or Taylor Swift eras without you having to teach them, you need our main tier.
Frequently Asked Questions About Booking an Affordable NYC DJ
Why is the price so much lower than your normal rate?

This is the most common question we get! The answer is simple: Experience. Many of our main-tier DJs have performed at hundreds of weddings and charge $2,950 (as of January 1, 2026). Our Associate DJs are talented pros from the club/nightlife world who are building their wedding portfolios. Because they have fewer weddings under their belt, we offer them at a lower rate ($2,000). You get a deal, and they get to build their résumé.

What happens if the Associate DJ gets sick or has an emergency?

This is the biggest advantage of booking with a large company instead of a solo budget DJ. We have a team of over 30 DJs. In the unlikely event of an emergency, we have the roster depth to send a backup pro with your music and timeline in hand. You get the safety net of a big agency for the price of a solo freelancer. And the backup DJ will be at the $2,000 price.

Can the Associate DJ make announcements (MC)?

Yes, but keep your expectations realistic. They will handle all the necessary logistics like introductions, toast announcements, and cake cutting natural voice. However, they might make a mistake. And as a company, we never hype up the crowd.

Do they have liability insurance?

Absolutely. Many, if not most, NYC and Tri-State venues require a Certificate of Insurance (COI). Even though this is a budget-friendly package, it is fully insured. We are happy to send the COI directly to your venue before the big day.

Can I meet the DJ before I book?

Yes, that is the next step. We want you to feel comfortable with their vibe. We can set up a quick Zoom or phone call so you can chat with the specific Associate DJ available for your date. If you don't click with them, no hard feelings!

How far will they travel for the $2,000 rate?

The $2,000 rate covers weddings within NYC or right outside. If your venue is outside that zone (like deep Long Island, Upstate, or Jersey), we simply add a standard travel fee to cover their gas and time.
